Incident Information -- Northwest Large Fire Information Summary

A Large Fire as defined by the National Wildland Coordinating Group, is any wildland fire in timber 100 acres or greater, and 300 acres or greater in grasslands/rangelands, or has an Incident Management Team assigned to it.

Information received from the National ICS-209 incident reporting database for large fires is updated each morning, and shows what has been reported by the Incident Commander the previous day at 7:00 PM. Information shown for each fire incident on the current day may not reflect changes made since the previous days ICS-209 input.

Under Investigation 

The fire is holding south of Briggs Creek. Firefighters continue to improve and reinforce the fire lines on the northeast flank and continue with mop up. Fire behavior has seen pockets of activity with limited backing and torching. Minimal spread. 

Mining claims still under a level 3 evacuation. Accelerated demobing of resources will continue the next couple of days. The fire management will transition to a Type 3 organization at 6 p.m. Sept. 7.

Yesterday saw minimal fire behavior on the Pyramid Butte Fire with creeping and smoldering in the Mt Jefferson Wilderness where suppression action has not occurred. The Bull of the Woods Fire continues to slowly back and flank through old growth mixed conifer west of Elk lake Creek and the Collawash River.

Current Conditions

Fires are burning in a heavy component of dead and down. Fire behavior is largely driven by the large accumulation of dead and down with isolated torching facilitated by standing dead and lichen draped timber.
